Turkmenistan Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad to discuss the progress of several key bilateral projects, including the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline.
The two sides also discussed the progress of a high-voltage power transmission line connecting Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan (TAP).
Both sides expressed their commitment to finalizing the necessary documents to expedite the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project, which the members view as key to their energy supply security.
The leaders also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation in other key areas of the economy, such as trade, economics, culture, and humanitarian affairs.
During the discussions, Turkmenistan and Pakistan also agreed to fast-track the construction of the TAP power transmission line project, which will further bolster Pakistan’s power supply to Pakistan.
Turkmenistan’s delegation is currently visiting Pakistan as a guest of honour at the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
