Inter State Gas Systems (Private) Limited (ISGS) was established in 1996 as a private limited company. ISGS has been incorporated under the Companies Ordinance, 1984 (Now Companies Act, 2017). It is mandated to oversee the import of trans national gas pipelines into the country and make improvements in Pakistan’s strategic Oil and Gas.

The Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India (TAPI) gas pipeline project aims to bring natural gas from the Galkynysh gas field (formerly called South Yoloten) in Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, Pakistan and India.
Ministry of Energy Petroleum Division in 2014 planned to undertake the laying of Gas Pipeline Project to meet supply demand gap in the northern regions of the country. Consequently, Government of Pakistan and the Russian Federation entered into G-to-G Agreement (IGA) for cooperation and development of the Project.
A Feasibility Study on the development of Underground Gas Storages (Project) in Pakistan was conducted by the Consultant (SOFREGAZ France) on the directions of MOE-PD, which was funded by Asian Development Bank in 2007. The Consultant studied 107 fields all over Pakistan and recommended conversion of Khorewah and Bukhari gas fields in Badin, Sindh to gas storage reservoir.
The Project aims to bring natural gas from the South Paras Gas field in Iran.
